Sorry for the slow response! There is definitely an item cap, but that can be resolved with mods that add more tiers to the items and spells.

I've looked at several mods that remove level caps on your character, so you can allegedly go to level 999, but cannot tell if these address the issue I have - that of all my characters over level 50-60 having hit a plateau, they continue to level ...apparently ... but while my opponents in the never-ending dungeon get stronger, my spells, weapons, and armor do not. So now my best spells/weapons/minions, who took out Ordrak in 30 seconds, take ten minutes of non-stop intense fighting just to kill one blasted ratlin (encountering a boss would be certain death). And if these mods will alleviate this situation, can they be activated with an existing character?

I know I'm responding to a year old post but... lol. I'm not aware of a save editor but there is a mod providing a respec potion which allows you to reassign your skill points.

I first heard of Torchlight in an Elder Scrolls forum way back in 2010, picked up a copy and it soon replaced an aged Hexen (with Korax Heritage mod) for my mindless hack-and-slash diversion. It has been on every computer I've had since then, in fact I was just playing a couple of hours ago. In many ways I still prefer it to Torchlight 2. ksharp - it sounds like your save game became corrupted. Your pet normally cannot die, they will just run away until their health regenerates (Shift+1 will give them one of your best hp potions if you don't want to wait); since the purple dot still shows on the map your pet still exists, so it is probably some arcane graphics/model glitch. A major irritant of T1 is the inability to save when you...

Ages ago I had a mod that removed level requirements for allocating skill points. I've looked through the mods here and cannot find it (there are many mods removing or altering level/stat requirements for weapons and armor, but that is not what I want to do). Does anyone know of the mod i seek? The irritant is when I level up and get a couple of skill points which I want to place on a particular spell but the game wont let me until I'm higher level, so I end up walking around with unused skill points until I've leveled several more times ...and then the game may only allow me to use a couple of my accumulated points.

Anarch16sync has just uploaded Item Combiner UI rework! An UI modification for the transmuter where the recipe window replaces the pet inventory to allow for 28 recipes to be shown at once. Contains 9 ingredients slots and custom top and bottom plates. This UI is based on the work of Bandit and his Transmuter expansion mod so go there and give him a thumbs up if you like... <.< >.> That feeling when you read a 5 month old message. Rip. I'm going to try to keep up with this site more. I was overdoing things with the comic + doing videos + modding, and it led to burnout. Going to try to get back into everything but the comics, and maybe the comics will have a place in the future.

Can anyone tell me what exactly this mod does? What do you mean by "correct" spell borders?

We always overlook the obvious. Had to point the shortcut to "modlauncher.exe" instead of "torchlight2.exe".

Last played T2 in April (according to my save file dates). Went to play recently and noticed the shortcut icon was showing a generic file icon instead of the T2, clicking it did nothing, checking properties showed a blank target line. I deleted that shortcut and created a new one, the game starts but now I cannot access any of my saves (all mod saves); the first load screen appears, then instead of the next screen where you select "play normal" or "play modded" it goes to the full screen with "load", "new game", etc. at the bottom. I started a new game and played a few minutes and all seems well; checked the folders and all the mods and mod saves are there. What happened? How do I get that second loading screen, where you select...

Just to set the record straight, I will reiterate what I pointed out in the TorchModders Discord: All I really did with this mod was implement "promissory notes" (a system of currency which actually preceded the use of gold "sovereign" coins in Great Britain) in a format consistent with the setting and gameplay of vanilla TL2. The idea and implementation were both loosely inspired by the TL1 mod "Gold Sharing Service" by @KelinTor (which also uses "promissory notes", though in a more primitive way).
